Awkward City is a young visual performance company with a creative focus addressing perceptions of society and interaction and the complexities of the real world.
Working in collaboration with independent sound digital artists, we aim to create dynamic, provocative theatre that probes the limitations of live visual media and the modern stage.
We are interested in pushing the body beyond certain boundaries of physical control and discipline throughout the development of our work.
In our performances you will find a collection of characters, phrases and situations combined with anecdote, invention and popular culture in order to filter the modern world through our awkwardly askew lens.
The creative engine of the company is to attempt to reflect onstage the different aspects of our contemporary world and the sparks that fly when we strike it with our curiosity.
